Boston Red Sox Corner
Introducing the 2009 Boston Red Sox!
The 2009 Boston Red Sox look poised to threaten the AL East yet again. Boston has a dirty harbor, true, but the Red Sox pitching staff throws dirty breaking balls.
Josh Beckett will anchor an impressive starting five that also includes former Cub Jon Lester, Daisuke Matsasuka and genius knuckle-baller Tim Wakefield. Some Red Sox fans suspect that Beckett's innings will be limited during the regular season to keep him fresh for the post season.
New Red Sox in 2009 include free agent acquisitions Rocco Baldelli, Josh Bard and Brad Penny, who will be the Red Sox number five starter. Coco Crisp has left the team but we are told the Red Sox Clubhouse has plenty of Captain Crunch.
Slugger Kevin Youkilis had the best season of his career in 2008 and put forth a good case for the AL MVP, which went to his teammate Dustin Pedroia. Youkilis his .312 with 115 RBI and 29 HR in 2008.
The Red Sox have some new propsects hoping to make an impact in 2009, most notably first baseman Lars Anderson and catcher George Kottaras. Also, look for Jed Lowrie to make a bid for the shortsop job as he shares those duties initially with Julio Lugo.
Boston Red Sox Seldom Discussed Fact
Boston Red Sox pitcher Derek Lowe pitched the only Major League no-hitter in 2002, a 10-0 win against the Tampa Bay Devilrays on April 27 at Fenway Park.
Red Sox Broadcasts
Red Sox baseball is broadcast regularly on WFXT-TV (Fox 25) and WEEI-AM (Radio 680).

Fenway Park
Fenway Park
Fenway Park is one of Major League Baseball's most historic and charming ballparks. Fans travel from across the United States to witness the Boston Red Sox and the famous left field "Green Monster." Last season the Red Sox added seats atop the Green Monster, providing fans with a bird's eye view of Red Sox action. The left field line at Fenway runs 310 feet, center field runs 390 feet and the shallow right field porch is only 302 feet.
Fenway was constructed in 1912 at a cost of $.42 Million. Wow -- I wish I had built Fenway in 1912; I would be very rich if I did. The seating capacity is 39,928.
What more can one say about majestic, historic Fenway Park? The Green Monster is just one of the unique things about Fenway that make Fenway a must see for any MLB baseball purist. Ticketchest.com sells hard to find Green Monster seats as well as prime infield box seats.
