The 2010 Boston Red Sox finished the 2010 season just out of playoff range, behind the Wild Card Yankees and the Division Champion Tampa Bay Rays. The Sox record was 89-73, 7 games behind the Rays and 6 behind the Yankees. Bright spots for the Sox in 2010 included Adrian Beltre’s .321 average, David Ortiz’s 32 HR, Jon Lester’s 19 wins, Clay Buckholz’s second-best 2.33 ERA and Jonathan Papelbon’s 37 saves, all top five or better marks within the AL. In 2010 the Red Sox posted a team ERA of 4.20 and a team batting average of .268.
