White Sox Corner
Making 2008 Count at US Cellular
If off season moves are any indication, the White Sox are playing to win in 2008. White Sox GM Kenny Williams has been busy, adding Nick Swisher (35 HRs), Gold Glove SS Orlando Cabrera, Scott Linebrink and Carlos Quentin. The acquisition of Swisher is regarded as one of the best offseason moves in 2007-2008. (The Sox gave up pitchers Gio Gonzalez and Fautino de los Santos and outfielder Ryan Sweeney.) Swisher is only 27 and expected to have at least five solid years of production, barring injury. He can only help the White Sox, who finished last in runs scored in 2007.
A few things must happen in 2008 for the White Sox to make a difference in the AL Central. John Danks must become a reliable fourth starter capable of pitching 15 or more games. Also, Jermaine Dye needs to pick up where he left off in 2006, as opposed to what he did in 2007. Finally, Scott Linebrink must secure a bullpen that was one of the League's worst in 2007.
If these things happen, wins will flow with the beer at US Cellular.

US Cellular Field
US Cellular Field was erected in 1991, the last "bowl" stadium before the onset of the "charming" era initiated by the completion of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The White Sox previously played in Comiskey Park.
US Cellular Field seats 40,615 White Sox fans, or 20,312 really really fat White Sox fans. It cost $150 million to build and it is a 100% government funded stadium.
