2009 Angels Preview
Introducing the 2009 Angels!

The Angels continue to win games.  In 2008 they compiled an impressive record of 100 wins and 62 losses, following a 2007 campaign in which they won the AL West (winning 96 games).  The offseason saw some big moves out of Anaheim, however, most notably the departure of Mark Teixeira for the NY Yankees and the departure of Jon Garland as a free agent.

Tori Hunter is entering the second year of a  five year, $90 million contract.  Hunter was the best free agent on the market in 2008 and should bring more Gold Gloves and offensive batting titles to LA.  The rest of the Angels outfield is comprised of RF Valimir Guerero and LF Juan Rivera.  Rivera has only batted 299 times in the last two seasons, so he will be asked to perform in 2009 in order to keep his job.  Gary Matthews, JR. represents a possible replacement.

The question is whether someone can pick up the slack given the departure of Jon Garland.

The Angels starting five and bullpen remain solid:

RHP -- John Lackey
RHP -- Ervin Santana
RHP -- Dustin Mosely
RHP -- Jered Weaver
LHP -- Joe Saunders
