The 2008 Minnesota Twins will sorely miss perhaps the greatest pitcher in baseball -- Johan Santana, traded to the NY Mets this off-season -- but the Twin Cities faithful do not believe all hope is lost.
The Twins off-season acquisition of outfielder Delmon Young should help solidify the outfield but the Twins appear to trail the Tigers and the Indians in terms of raw fire power and baseball talent. Young will be a key -- he must provide consistent at bats and support 2006 AL MVP Justin Morneau and Minnesota's favorite Joe Mauer.
One of the Twins' prospect pitchers must step up to help fill the unfillable void left by Santana's departure from the Twins -- Boof Bonser, Scott Baker, Francisco Liriano or Glen Perkins. Liriano is coming off Tommy John surgery so time will tell how well he has recovered. (Keep in mind that Yankees Ace Mariano Rivera once had Tommy John surgery and he's had a nice career).
