Nationals Corner
The National League’s newest franchise showed more growing pains in 2010, but none more painful than the late season elbow injury to pitching phenom Stephen Strasburg. Strasburg missed the end of the 2010 season and is expected to miss all or most of the 2011 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The Nats finished the 2010 campaign with a disappointing record of 69 and 93, putting them last in the NL East, 28 games behind the Pennant-winning Phillies. Adam Dunn finished the season with 38 HR (second in NL) and 103 RBI.
National Park
Prior to the 2005 season, the current Nationals team played in Montreal as the Montreal Expos. The team's relocation was the first in Major League Baseball since 1972, when the Washington Senators moved to Texas, becoming the Texas Rangers. The franchise was owned by Major League Baseball from 2002 until mid-2006. On May 3, 2006, a new ownership group was selected, headed by Theodore N. Lerner. The group formally took possession of the team on July 22, 2006. Former longtime Atlanta Braves sports executive Stan Kasten is President of the team.

The Nationals are a member of the National League's Eastern Division (both previous Nationals/Senators teams played in the American League), and 2008 is the Nats first season in MLB's newest stadium -- stunning National Park.  Since coming to Washington, DC that Nats have played in the antiquated and amenity-starved facility originally home to the Senators -- RFK STadium.  National Park is located in Southeast D.C. near the Anacostia River and with views of the US Capitol building.  National Park seats 41,222 Nationals fans.
