Jersey Boys is a musical based upon the real-life story of on the most successful musical groups of the 1960's - The Four Seasons. The original Four Seasons consisted of Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. With hits like "Sherry"; "Big Girls Don't Cry"; "Walk Like a Man"; "December, 1963 (Oh What a Night); "Bye Bye Baby"; "Can't Take My Eyes Off You"; and "Working My Way Back to You" - it's not at all surprising that most theatre-goers are up on their feet dancing and cheering along to the infectious musical score during each night's performance.
Jersey opened on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre on November 6, 2005. The original cast consisted of John Llyod Young as Frankie Valli, Christian Hoff as Tommy DeVito, Daniel Richard as Bob Gaudio and J. Robert Spencer as Nick Massi. At the 2006 Tony Awards, Jersey Boys took home 4 awards - Best Musical, Best Actor for John Lloyd Young, Best Featured Actor for Christian Hoff and Best Lighting Design for Howell Binkley. Since the Jersey Boys' initial Broadway debut in 2005, the hit musical has appeared in theatres across the globe. Jersey Boys has been performed at The Curran Theatre in San Francisco, the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles and The Prince Edward Theatre in London's West End. Three cities currently host regular runs of the Jersey Boys: the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway in New York City; the Bank of America Theatre in Chicago; and the Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. You can also take in a Jersey Boys performance at the following theatres across North America: the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas; the State Theatre - Playhouse Square Center in Cleveland, Ohio; The Denver Center for the Performing Arts - Temple Buell Theatre in Denver, Colorado; and the Toronto Center for the Arts in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Touring casts are scheduled to perform at the following locations in 2009: the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center in Orlando, Florida; the Broward Center Au Rene in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia; and the Princess Theatre in Melbourne, Australia.
