Cubs Corner
So what's it going to be in 2008 . . .first place like 2007, or last place like 2006?  If it is a first place finish, will it be followed by another winless post season?  Hope not says Jim Hendry. Of course we at the Ticketchest believe that the Cubs are going to win the World Series in 2008.  You heard it here.

The 2007 offseason was productive but not outrageous, focusing on the solid nucleus which delivered for Wrigleyville loyalists in 2007.

The Cubs had the second lowest ERA in the NL last season, posting a mark of 4.04.  And Kosuke Fukudome is bringing his hot bat and many talents to the land of beer, peanuts and sausage.  Fukudome has a career on-base percentage of .397. and he was a two-time batting champion in Japan.  Fukudome's deal is for four years and $48 million.  His power may not translate across the Pacific, but he is expected to be good for 20 or so home runs and to be extremely reliable in right field.

The Cub infield is like former Celtic superstar Kevin McHale -- sharp at the corners.  First baseman Derek Lee and Third baseman Aramis Ramirez have each posted .300 plus averages the last three seasons, and each hits his fair share of home runs and plays the field exceptionally well.

The Cubs need to get off to a good start and avoid protracted slumps in 2008.  And they need a solid closer.  Will that closer be Kerry Wood?  And the Cubs will need more production in 2008 from the center of the infield.  Sweeeeeeet Lou Pinella will accept nothing short of a Pennant in 2008.
Wrigley Field

Lets start off with a fun analogy: Wrigley Field is to baseball as  . . . Big is to Texas . .  Budweiser is to beer . . .Gary Coleman is to Different Strokes??  How do you over-state the perfection of Wrigley Field?

Situated in charming Wrigleyville in Chicago's North Side, Wrigley Field has entertained baseball purists with its purity and elegance for 275 years.  Okay, not that long -- but long!

Wrigley Field was constructed in 1914 at a cost of $250,000.  Almost 100 years later you can't buy a two bedroom condo in Lakeview for that price.  Wrigley Field seats approximately 41,118 fans.  The Chicago Bears played football in Wrigley Field from 1921 to 1970.

Ronnie Woo Woo, Ivey, The Bleachers, the organ, the absence of nonsensical heavy metal between every pitch . . .Wrigley Field is a canvas for baseball as it was meant to be played.
